The Great American Novel

Recommended grade levels - 9th through 12th

Teacher:
 Lilli Witczak
Time:                         Wednesdays 10:00 - 11:15 a.m.
Date:                          6 weeks in a row starting June 1.

The goal of this class is for each student to write a 50,000 word novel in 4 weeks.  Yup, that’s a lot of writing.  What
better time to take on such a monumental challenge than summer. Think about it. When your student is asked, “So, what
did you do this summer?”  He/she will be able to reply, “Oh nothing much. I just wrote a novel.”

The first week of the class will be a warm up and pre-writing meeting to strategize and prepare for the task. Then the
race begins.  While the novel is being written over four weeks, the class will critique excerpts from fellow students’ books,
listen to and make suggestions, and learn a few rhetorical tools.  The last class meeting is to strategize and celebrate.

Book Required:  No Plot? No Problem! Revised and Expanded Edition: A Low-stress, High-velocity Guide to Writing a
Novel in 30 Days by Chris Baty.
ISBN-13: 978-1452124773

Fees:                         $90 for the six week class.

There  are   many  advantages   of   two   Chess  students  in  the  same  household.

Chess   is  a  wonderful  game  that   helps  develop   mental   discipline,  analytical   skills,   strategic   thinking,   and
do   better   academically.   Studies   have   shown  that   students   studying   chess    demonstrated    a  marked
development   of   their  verbal   and  math  aptitudes.    This   class  is   a  great  way   to    have   fun,   improve  in
Chess   and  make  new   friends.

About   Coach  Jeff:   Jeff   Schwartz     has   played   tournament  chess    from  the  time  he  was   a   freshman  in
college.   Coach  Jeff   is  a  Life   Member   of  the United   States  Chess   Federation   and   an  active   member  of
the  Arcadia   Chess   Club.   Coach  Jeff   has   taught   Chess   since   2007,   helping   hundreds  of  students
mature    in  the  world  of  Chess,  while  he   uses   an  individualized   approach  for  each  student.

DOG SITTING SERVICES

Hi everyone -

As vacation season starts to roll around, I wanted to let you know that if you are looking for a dog-sitter, we can watch your dog in our home
while you are away.

We homeschool, so my two kids and I will spend all day with your furry friend. They will be treated like family. We love dogs. My husband
and I have had dogs our whole lives. Your dog will receive excellent care, love and companionship while they stay with us. We have been a
foster family to a mama dog and her 5 puppies. All our dogs have been rescue dogs. We can't wait to love your dog!!  We have a fenced in
backyard, a great neighborhood for walks and two parks close by where your furry companion can run and catch balls.

I have two children.  My son is 15 and my daughter is 13.  They both love dogs and will make sure your doggie gets lots of love and
attention.  We send you pictures and texts daily showing you how much fun your doggie is having.  While you are having a vacation, your
furry friend can be on vacation too!

We have a dog - a 10 year old female mixed Collie/Golden Retriever, 3 cats and a goldfish.

We live in Duarte.  We are happy to set up a Meet & Greet for you to come by and meet us and see where your Furry Friend will be staying.

We are with a dog-sitting service called Rover.com.  You can go on the site and check us out.  Booking thru Rover gives you 24/7
Emergency Customer Support and Premium Pet Insurance.  You can even save $20 on your first stay!!!!
