AFRICAN AMERICAN FIREFIGHTER
MUSEUM

TIME:         11:00 A.M.  (plan to arrive by 10:45 a.m.)                          
COST:        $5.00 per student (parents free)
PARKING:   FREE in lot next to museum
AGE:          This tour is for 6th—12th graders.  Younger siblings may
attend under supervision.

DIRECTIONS:  Exit Santa Monica Freeway (10) N. on Central Avenue.  
Museum is located on the corner of Central and 14th St.

       This small, beautiful museum is set in a Los Angeles neighborhood.  It
chronicles the history of black firefighters by honoring them and their white
colleagues who pushed for integration.  Although black and white
firefighters fought fires and saved lives side by side, they could not cook or
eat together.  Besides photos and documents, exhibits include a fire
engine, uniforms, boots, fire extinguishers, badges, helmets and other
mementos.

DIRECTIONS: Take 605 Frwy to Arrow Highway/Live Oak Exit and go east
                       to the entrance (approx. 1 mile)

       Spend the day in Queen Elizabeth’s England!  You will have your own
tickets, so you can come and go as you please.   There is a lot of study info
on the web at www.renfair.com  Click on tickets then school day and look for
the links to educational material.  Note:  The School Day version is
somewhat “cleaned up” to be more child appropriate (cleaner jokes, more
modest dress, etc.).
