ICE SKATING
DATE: Wednesday December 30, 2009
TIME: 9:15 AM — 11:45 NOON
COST: $6.00 per person (includes skate rental)
PLACE: Pasadena Ice Skating Center, 310 East Green Street, Pasadena
next to Civic Auditorium
PARKING: $7.00 in the Sheraton lot -or- across the street at the
Paseo Pasadena shopping mall
$1.00 per hour with a validation from the mall
(no purchase required).
BEGINNERS: wear mittens, gloves, or warm socks on hands.
This is a great opportunity for all ages. There will be a 25-minute lesson
followed by a free skate period. We will share the rink with Christ the King
Academy.
Teens: This is a great chance to meet other teens.

“Mixing, Producing and Sampling”

Who makes an artist sound good? Engineer and producer
Darryl Swann (Black Eyed Peas, Stevie Wonder) will give students an
overview and hands-on demonstration of sampling techniques and mixing
principles as well as offering an understanding of what exactly a record
producer does and how to record and “comp” a great vocal performance.
Swann will also demonstrate sampling from vinyl records and old school
drum programming and how these techniques are the foundation of all
modern in-the-box beat devices. Students will also learn mixing techniques
and principals anyone can use as well as discuss the future of the music
industry and where they should look to jumpstart a career in the
business.

DIRECTIONS: From the 210 Freeway take the Sierra Madre Blvd. off
ramp and go south. After about 2-3 miles you will come to Huntington
Drive. Continue across Huntington Dr. where the street changes its name
to San Marino Avenue, continue until street makes a Y”, take right side
(Santa Anita), continue south on Santa Anita to Mission Drive, turn right.
Auditorium is on the right and parking lot next to it. Parking is FREE.
From the 10 Frwy: Take New Avenue north; it becomes Ramona; after
railroad tracks, jog around the left side of the Mission to Mission Drive.
