Unlock the Mystery to Math
Presenter: Author and Educator RJ Toftness
DATE:November 16, 2009
TIME: 3:30 - 5:00 pm
Excellence in Education
Why is it so difficult to understand Math? It's actually not you fault. RJ found
during his search through old math textbooks, encyclopedias and
dictionaries that the basic knowledge of math was gradually removed
from books since the mid-1960's.
RJ Toftness will present the very basics of math and use a lot of props,
demonstrations etc so it won't be boring. It will be presented in such a way
that the parents can use actual tools to instruct their children easier.
To give you an idea on the approach of RJ I have included an excerpt from
a unique blog by Mommy Blogger Janis Brett Elspas homeschooler of four
-- including triplets.
Helping Bright Kids Who Are Failing Math
"Toftness' novel approach to finding out why you failed in math intertwines
cartoons, illustrative stories and straight forward explanations. Our 12 year-
old has been working with this book for about a week and has made more
progress than she did during the entire school year. She's really getting it
now. In fact, last night she informed me that she now knows physics! In
reality, it's going to be awhile before she really studies physics, but at least
she finally feels something better than her former "I Hate Math" negative
attitude."
If you are having challenges teaching math to your child and are not
currently enrolled in one of our math classes you should seriously consider
attending this free one evening seminar. Even those who are attending
one of our math classes would benefit from attending as well.
There is limited seating available for this event. Please register your name
